Gazprom, Novatek may set up new LNG projects in Yamal
MOSCOW, Jun 30 (PRIME) -- Gas giant Gazprom may initiate new gas chemistry or gasification projects in association with independent gas producer Novatek or other Russian company with sufficient experience at the Yamal-based Tambeisky fields, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on Friday.
“It cannot be ruled out that the resources, which have been added to our balance, may become a ground for talks on joint projects,” he said.
In May, Rusgazdobycha, owned by businessman Artyom Obolensky, signed a memorandum of understanding on participation in upstream and downstream projects on the Yamal-based Tambeisky group of fields, as well as at the Achim and Valanginian deposits of the Nadym-Pur-Tazovsky region.
Miller said that his company has held no negotiations on Novatek’s participation in construction of the Baltic liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, however, Russian companies may become the project’s shareholders.
Earlier this month, Gazprom and Royal Dutch Shell signed a framework agreement on a joint feasibility study of the project, which allows the companies to start development of pre-front end engineering design documents and set the main conditions of a joint venture.
CEO also said that Gazprom plans to resume the Vladivostok LNG project soon as there is interest among investors in the Eastern Asian region.
